睡眠してません@tumblr

ただ、世の中には「昔はよかった」と言いたがる人が、
「昔はよくなかった」と言う人よりも多そうなので、
ぼくとしては、できるだけ「いま」のほうに、
肩入れしようとします。
ずいぶんよくなったものだよなぁ、と思うことは、
いっぱいあるんですよ。

昔の「公衆」が集まる場所は、だいたい最低でした。
公衆便所は汚れていました。
そこに入るくらいならもらしてもいい、と思うくらい
とんでもなく汚い所もありました。
映画館なんかも、椅子はギシギシいってたし、
便所の悪臭やタバコの煙の匂いが充満していました。
いまの映画館や劇場なんて、
たいていの観客の自室よりきれいでしょう。
　
電車だとか、汽車だとかでも、
混んでいるということの限度を超えていて、
いまだったら考えられないくらい押し合いへし合いして、
もっと憎悪が渦巻いていたような印象でした。
いまの乗客は、よく譲りあってると思います。
雨の日の道路はぬかるみだらけでしたし、
そこを通るクルマは泥水をはね上げていました。

なんか、「公衆」というか「大衆」というか、
人がおおぜいいるという所は、いやな場所でした。
いまは、まったくそんなことないでしょう？
少しずつ少しずつ、よくなってきたんですよ。
やっぱり豊かになったのは経済ばかりというけど、
並行して豊かになったものも、あるんですよ、きっと。
ぼくは、あんな公衆便所に入りたくないし、
映画館にも行きたくない、電車だって乗りたくないです。
なつかしいなぁとも、思えないんですけどねぇ。
